Hallo! I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, and have a happy (soon to be) new year.
So idk how it works, but I made a tumblr. It's mostly going to be for Mother/Earthbound stuff, but I'm going to put a few random photos on there and stuff too. If anyone is interested in being friends on there or however it works, the link is Megaton Walk.
I have no idea what I'm doing on there, so forgive me if it's all awful and disjointed til I get myself sorted!
On that note, did you know I like Earthbound? I basically used all of my money to buy everything I could related to the series. I wish I'd discovered it years ago, if you haven't played it I highly suggest you give it a try. You'll never play a more charming, sweet, goofy, funny and heartbreaking series in your life. Any game with the tagline 'no crying until the end' is good by my books! I've been spending a lot of time on the Starmen forums too, it's rare to see such a warm, thoughtful community. I originally bought a Wii U to play Smash and Mario Kart, but I bought Earthbound on a whim and it's essentially taken over my life.
If you don't care for all the Earthbound/Mother stuff I've been posting lately, (why wouldn't you) fear not – I have other stuff to upload too, but just let me enjoy this excitement while I can. It's very rare I get so... enthused about a subject, and I can't see it happening with another franchise for a long time! I haven't been this excited since I went through the Mega Man obsession about 6 years ago.
Also this is a super long shot, but if you have any Earthbound merchandise or the original cartridge and would like to extort money from me, feel free. The Mother series is virtually non-existent over here so I have to rely on America and Japan for my fix ;A;
~~Anyway, I don't really get online too often, and when I do it's usually to play Earthbound, but if you want to have a race on Mario Kart, Pokemon trade or beat me at Smash Bros, then my codes are as follows!
Wii U: GoodnightMedic
3DS: 0130-2232-3292
As always, be excellent to each other, and may 2015 be excellent to you
So it's been a long time since I've done one of these, huh?
Spring has sprung, the grass is ris!
Praise the sun! It's warmer and the birds are all a-twitter, the garden finally has a bit of life to it after what always seems to be an eternity of drab grey. They say island nations are eccentric, and here in Britain we seem to revert to pagan ways when the sun comes out. Seriously, everyone seems happier, it's quite literally as if a cloud has been lifted across the whole country. We go from scarves and coats to shorts and vests almost overnight! The weather's always a little screwy, quite often you'll need sun cream and an umbrella on the same day, but it's just wonderful to have winter done for another few months.
Anyway the main point of this journal is to advertise an awesome project called Superfluous Rex! The brainchild of one , it's essentially a community project where people can submit articles of their interests, be it a celebration of retro consoles, the latest LEGO sets, concert reviews, analyses of MLP episodes, or anything at all! The idea behind it is that people can write about their interests without fear of discrimination. Sadly, more often than not, fandoms can quickly sour into nests of elitism rather than shared grounds of mutual enjoyment. Superfluous aims to be a safe haven for enthusiasts! It's worth checking out, we're all super-friendly! ヽ(*゜∀゜*)ノ
Uh, in other news. I went to Paris, I'm going to Florence, and I have another Distant Worlds concert in the Royal Albert Hall to look forward to. Joy of joys! I tend to rant more about this kind of thing on my blog Ivory Figments and of my interests, of course, on Superfluous :3
Lately I've been rediscovering a lot of things too. Do you ever find an album you've not listened to in years, only to find how much you still love that band? That's me and Franz Ferdinand right now! Along with Jimmy Eat World, early Muse, Yellowcard, and Electric Six, it's a nostalgic time to love everything I'd forgotten about!
Also, why did it take me so long to discover Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? It's always been there, an icon in anime and manga, but I'd not paid it much attention until recently. And my word is it fabulous. For it being so iconic, there's surprisingly little attention paid to it, I myself only got into it because of the PS3 game that was released here last Friday. Both dramatic and hilarious, I'm not even sure if it's intentional! And what a soundtrack! It's amazing, I can't recommend it enough. I haven't had this much fun with anime since Gurren Lagann. If these videos don't convince you then nothing will:
Pretty much the whole show is gold. Sorry for the massive videos, I dunno how to make them smaller ・゜・(ノД`)
So yeah.
Anyway, as always, thanks for watching, reading and commenting!
Until next time~ (・∀・)
Just a quick update, I won't keep you long!
Like everyone else ever, I have obtained a copy of Pokemon (Y, to be specific). I'm really not far due to my fixation with catching every available pokemon in an area before progressing, but I believe it is customary to share Friend Codes! I know they're good for Friend Safaris, but I am waaay behind, so I can't tell you what type/pokes I get in mine! THE MYSTERY IS THE THRILL!
Anyway my code is~ 0130-2232-3292 .
I’ve heard that shinies are a lot more common in this game, which is awesome! I’m not a huge competitive battler, so I don’t care about the nature/IVs of a shiny – I’ll still end up using it (the sad reality is that it remains preserved forever in a Box, destined to gather dust and look pretty).
So hopefully I’ll have a bit of luck and net a few! c: I may even give the anime a try for the first time in about fifteen years to see if I can play alongside Ash’s journey I've been watching the odd episode of Black and White, as well as some episodes on the Pokemon TV app. Feels pretty good to indulge 10 year me with some corny Saturday morning adventures :3

As mentioned in the Howl picture, I’ll be attending MCM Birmingham/Memorabilia on 23rd November. I’ll upload a full body picture before the convention so people get a better idea. I’m all excited, it feels like forever since I've been to a convention and I’m looking forward to picking up some winter releases
I’ve always wanted to cosplay Howl too! I want to find a Sophie cosplayer and we’ll waltz to Merry-Go Round of Life XD; <3 I reread the book recently, as well as House of Many Ways. I really loved Dianne Wynne Jones, she was one of my favourite authors. I really recommend her stuff if you fancy warm, charming fantasy c:
I'll probably do a huge blog post someday about Howl's and all the weird stuff it makes me feel. I'd like to mention how Miyazaki seems partial to Western literature for his films. I'm a prolific reader as well as a huge Ghibli fan, so it's truly wonderful to see worlds I imagined set to Ghibli's signature style.
Another favourite author is Ursula Le Guin, and as slated as Tales from Earthsea was, I really enjoyed it – if for not much more than the environments. Tehanu is probably my favourite Earthsea book, so to see it animated by one of my favourite studios is amazing, even if it inevitably strays from the plot. I do often wonder how it could have been though, if Hayao Miyazaki was granted his request to translate Earthsea rather than Goro...
I'm ranting now, so I'll stop and move on ;3;

Uhm, what else is there?
Oh yeah! There’s an anime set where I hail from! – Unbreakable Machine-Doll
I've only watched part of the first episode, so I can't give a fair view of it (to be honest, it doesn't look like my type of show) but it's awesome seeing places I see nigh-on daily animated! Kind of like what I talking about earlier with Ghibli's interpretations but the locations are real with a steampunk-esque twist. I really should watch more, it'd be cool if Liverpool really were like that.
As I say, I've not watched it, but I've seen a few screencaps of the architecture. The Anglican Cathedral features in one of the episodes (one of my favourite buildings ever~, it's truly awe-inspiring. The arches are so high and the stained glass windows are stunning *w*) Cool fact: My university building is right next to the cathedral. And I had my graduation ceremony there! Where I met Brian May. Yeah.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a similar situation with the K-ON! Movie. I love London, and I'm keen to see it all prettily animated and seen from a touristy point of view! I may pick it up in Birmingham, DVDs/BRs are always mega cheap at cons (plus it comes with an Oyster Travel Card holder ;w; )

Last but not least! I'm mega excited for Christmas now. I love cosying up with a book or movie, burying myself in a duvet and watching films (by treelight is even better * w *) ! It really is a magical time of year. Seasonal food is awesome, Christmas smells nice, treelights are calming, and its generally the season to be snug, fat, and lazy. Hooray!
So yeah! Sorry this has been a bit ranty, but I just felt like sharing a bit of happiness with the world before I fall back into my usual autopilot state.
Hope you are all well! I will eventually play more Pokemon <__<
